Guest Designer ~ Gwen Lords & a FREEBIE!!!

TGIF!!!  My guest designer this week is Gwen Lords from This and That by Gwen.  She created such a cute little Get Well care package.  Here it is:

Gwen used the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Get Well Cutting Files set for the sick little whale and the bandage.  The treat package is from the K-Cup Treat Cutting Files.  She filled the bag shape with a pattern from the Spring Fling Polka Dots Digital Paper Pack.  

Here's a side view that shows the goodies tucked inside.  Such a great idea!

Owl Graduation Card ~ SOUS Die Cut Challenge May 31

Happy Friday, everyone!  It's time for another Stuck on U Sketches Die Cut Challenge.  The challenge this time is to create a project using a die cut of a bird.  Here's what I created:

I got this sweet little nerdy owl and his grad cap from the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons (PPPR) Little Hoot Cutting Files set.  The speech bubble is from this week's PPPR Friday Freebie...Speech Bubbles Cutting Files.  I added a sentiment from Pink by Design's You're a Hoot Stamp Set, some doodles, and some ribbon, and my colorful little grad card was all done!  :)

I'm sad to say that this is my last post as a DT member at SOUS.  Things have gotten so busy around here, and I just don't have as much time for crafting as I used to.  Plus, I was on 5 DTs there for a while, and that was just CRAZY! I'm going to really miss being a part of the SOUS team....they are an awesome group of ladies!

Guest Designer ~ Sarah Vait & a FRIDAY FREEBIE

Pink by Design Not-a-Card Friday

Hey, everyone!  It's time for another Not-a-Card Friday over at Pink by Design.  We're still working with our Graduation Challenge theme, so I decided to create a little graduation gift box.  Here it is:

This little box is actually a combination of two little paper mache boxes that I got at Hobby Lobby for 99 cents each. Here's how I put this little box together:

First, I bought two little boxes...one square an one round.  I made sure that the top of the square one would fit over the round box.

Next, I painted the tops of both boxes and the bottom of the round box black.  I didn't need the bottom of the square box for this project.  I just used some acrylic paint that I already had on hand.

I created a tassel from twine and attached it to the top of the square box top with a brad.  Actually, I just attached it with a glue dot, but punching a hole and fastening the brad in would probably be much more secure.

Then, I glued the round top to the inside of the square top, like this:

Then, I was left with a little box that is shaped like a grad cap and still closes securely.  I added a little sentiment from Pink by Design's Everyday Banners stamp set, and my little gift box was all done!  Here's another view of the little box:

Design Team Day!!!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I'm so excited that it's time for another Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Design Team Day.  The creative ladies on my DT have done such an awesome job with PPPR files, as usual!

Today is my 14th anniversary, so my project today is a card for my hubby.  Anyone who knows us knows that we each have a "2nd spouse" list....just a list of celebrities, usually, that we each think could be our second wife or husband.  HA!  It's just a silly little game we do.  The thing is, though, that my list is WAY longer than his.  I blame Pinterest. ;)  Anyway,  so...this is what I came up with for my red-whiskered man.

I printed the sentiment and hearts using the print-and-cut feature of Silhouette Studio, and I just cut the rectangle around the sentiment.  Then, I embossed it using my Paper Studio Woodgrain embossing folder.  I added a mustache from the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Old Chap Cutting Files set and a few doodles with my white gel pen, and my simple card was all done.

Pink by Design Technique Wenesday

Happy Wednesday!  It's time for another Technique Wednesday at Pink by Design.  This week, we're featuring projects using twine.  Of course, we're staying with our Graduation theme from this week's challenge.  Here's what I created:

The card base for this card is from the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons (PPPR) Scattered Stars Card Cutting Files. I replaced the colored paper strips in the background with colored twine, which I just cut and taped to the back of a piece of card stock.  I added a grad cap from the PPPR Hats Off Cutting Files set and a sentiment from the Pink by Design Everyday Banners and Hats Off stamp sets.  Then, my little card was all done!

Pink by Design Graduation Challenge

Happy Monday, everyone!  It's time for another challenge over at Pink by Design, and this week's challenge is to create a graduation-themed project.  Here's what I came up with:

The base of this card is from the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons (PPPR) Center Panel Step Card Cutting Files set. The sweet graduate girl is from the PPPR Graduates Cutting Files set, and the diplomas are from the PPPR Hat's Off Cutting Files set.  The big sentiment is from Pink by Design's Giant Greetings stamp set.  I love how it fits the banner on this card perfectly.  The sweet little face on the graduate is from the Peachy Keen Laughy Taffy Face Assortment stamp set.

PPPR Just for Him Blog Hop

YAY!!! It's Saturday!!!  Welcome to the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Blog Hop.  My amazing design team and I will be serving up all sorts of MANLY inspiration today using Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons (PPPR) files.  Be sure to stop by each and every blog...you don't want to miss any of the awesome projects, and we've got some fun blog candy to share, also.  

For my project, I decided to use the cute little wrench from the new PPPR Tool Time Cutting Files set to create a masculine birthday card. He didn't look quite manly enough for me, traded in his happy face for a mustache from the new PPPR Old Chap Cutting Files set.  Here's my card:

The shape for the card base came from the PPPR Graduates Cutting Files set...the Hurray Title one.  I just used the "mirror above" function in Silhouette Studio and welded the two shapes together to create a card base.  By the way, I always make an extra copy of the base layer so the fold of the card doesn't show.  So, I always have a card base with the full base shape layered on top.  I hope that makes sense...it's hard to explain.  This card measures 8.25" x 3.65", so it fits nicely in a #10 legal-sized envelope.

I embossed the orange layer with my Cuttlebug Diamond Plate embossing folder and inked it up with charcoal-colored fluid chalk ink.  I added some green ribbon, a sentiment from Pink by Design's Tool Time Stamp Set (which I stamped on a banner from the PPPR Sentiment Spots Cutting Files set), and a few white gel pen doodles, and my masculine birthday card was all done.

Sweet & Silly Flower ~ SOUS Die Cut Challenge May 17 & a FREEBIE

TGIF, everyone!  It's time for another Die Cut Challenge over at Stuck on U Sketches.  YAY!  The challenge this time is to create a project using a die cut of a flower.  Easy, peasy!  Here's what I came up with:

This sweet little flower shaped card would work for so many occasions.  I got the flower from the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Flower Assortment Cutting Files set.  I created a shadow layer by using the offset feature in Silhouette Studio, mirrored the shadow shape to the left, and welded the two shapes together.  I added this cutie of a face from my Peachy Keen Sweet & Silly Face Assortment and a few doodles with my white gel pen, and my simple little card was all done!

What's New Wednesday #34

Hey, everyone!  I hope you all are having an excellent Wednesday so far.  I've added a bunch of new files to the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Store over the last week, and I'm so excited to share them with you today.  First, let me show you what's new today:

I created these silly Tool Time files just in time for you to start working on those Father's Day projects.  The faces on the tools cutting files are easily removed, and the sets come with JPG and PNG files with and without faces.  These files are available as Tool Time Cutting Files or Tool Time Digital Clip Art.

I also added another set that would be perfect for Father's Day, but there are SO many more uses for this gigantic Old Chap set. You'll get 33 files in all (WOW!), and the set comes as Old Chap Cutting Files and Old Chap Digital Clip Art.

Also, in case you missed them, I also added these Graduates Cutting Files and Hats Off  Cutting Files last Friday.  Each set is also available as Digital Clip Art.
