Make a Wish

Yay!  I'm so excited that I got to do something crafty today JUST for fun!  Don't get me wrong...if I'm crafting, I'm having fun, but I have a lot of crafty responsibilities, so I'm happy when I can make something just for the fun of it.

I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm no longer a part of the Fantabulous Cricut and Celebrate the Occasion Design Teams. I decided to step down at the end of the DT terms. It was a really tough decision for me because I had such a BLAST on the teams and it was such an honor to be a part of each of them, but I was actually getting pretty stressed out about my crafting.  Between design teams, my Etsy shop (which is doing great), my kids being home for the summer, my hubby living away from home for a (2 hour away) "deployment", and a move to a new house, I was REALLY stressed and spread thin.  But, now I've cut down my responsibilites a little, the kids are going back to school in a couple of weeks, we're all settled into the house, and my hubby has started visiting regularly...so things are much calmer around here.  So, to make a long story a bit shorter...I finally feel I have time to join in on some challenges just for fun.  Hey, I may even try my hand at submitting some projects for publication.  We'll see how that goes.

Anyway, enough about that...I decided to join in on the challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut this week.  It's all about bugs, and there are just soooo many cute bug cuts out there!  I just couldn't resist!  I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try cutting out Jiminy Cricket from the Disney Classics cartridge.  I also get to be a guest over at Crazy about Cricut for Mickey and Friends Monday on the 15th.  Here's my little card:

Here's a couple of tips for working with intricate cuts like this (which Disney seems to have a lot of). First, leave all of the little pieces on your Cricut mat while you're assembling the cut.  That will make sure you don't lose anything.  Also, if you want to ink up the little pieces for a little more depth of color, use crafting tweezers, such as Tweezer Bees to hold the little guys.  That way you won't drop them and your fingers won't turn into rainbow messes.  Oh, and another thing...if you're laying out all of the pieces on the base layer, just to see how they fit, make sure your window is closed!  One good gust of wind, and I was crawling around on the floor looking for Jiminy's tongue!  (Don't worry...I found it!) :o)

I got the base for this 5.5" card from Wild Card.  The sentiment on the front came from Pink By Design's Take the Cake stamp set, and the sentiment inside came from the Pink By Design Birthday, Birthday stamp set.   I added some Purple Plum Divine Twine, lots of ink, and some buttons to finish off my little card.  I hope you like it!

I have another project all planned out to enter into another challenge or two, so I hope you'll check back in the next couple of days to see what I make. Thanks sooooo much for stopping by today!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #67: Pool Time

Happy Challange Me Monday everyone!  I hope you are having a Fantabulous Fourth of July!!! This week's challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut is to create a water-themed project.  Here's the little card I came up with:

The base for this 5.75" circlular card came from Wild Card.  I got the cute little sun from Sesame Street Seasons (I drew on the face, though).  The animals all came from Create a Critter, and the floaties came from Pack Your Bags.  I used my Gypsy to make sure I got the sizes of the floaties just right for my little animals.  My sentiment came from Pink By Design's Summer Vacation Stamp Set.

I wanted the animals to look like they were floating in the water, so I snipped off their little legs.  Don't worry...they didn't feel a thing.  Then, I popped up the center of their floaties so they would look rounded.  I added lots of ink, some Diamond Stickles, some brads, and some doodle marks, and my card was all done! I hope you like it. :o)
Now it's your turn!  Head on over to Fantabulous Cricut to see what the other Design Team members created and join in on the challenge yourself.  I can't wait to see what you make!

Celebrate the Occasion Challenge #19: Celebrate Summer

This week at Celebrate the Occasion, we're celebrating summer.  The challenge is to create a project with a sun on it.  Here's what I came up with:

I decided to do a pretty simple shape card for this challenge.  I got the sun from Create a Critter and the card base from Wild Card...I used my gypsy to hide the inner circle that's usually on the base.  I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but the orange on the card is glitter paper.  I added some inking and a sentiment from Pink By Design's Summer Vacation Stamp Set, and my simple little card was all done!  I hope you like it!

Now, I hope you'll head over to Celebrate the Occasion to see what the other Design Team members created and then join in on the challenge yourself.  I can't wait to see what you come up with! Thanks for stopping by today...have a great week!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #59: Teacher Feature

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope you had an awesome weekend...a fun National Scrapbooking Day and a fabulous Mother's Day! I know mine was WONDERFUL!  Anyway...it's another Challenge Me Monday over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.  The challenge this week is to create a project for a special teacher with the color red on it.  I made a couple of different cards...one for each of my daughters' teachers.  Here they are:

The base for this card came from Wild Card, the seal came from Birthday Bash, and the apple is from Create a Critter.  I embossed the base with the Polka Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I used the center of the star frame on the front as an area for writing on the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from Pink By Design's Our Teachers stamp set.  I added some brads and some ribbon, and my first card was all done! :o)

The apple for this card came from Doodlecharms, the Ruler is from a Cuttlebug folder...the Measure by Measure border folder. This sentment also came from the Our Teachers stamp set.  I added some silver star brads...they remind me of the foil stars teachers put on papers.  I think it turned out cute.  I liked these cards so much, I made a second set to put in my Etsy Shop. :o)

Well, I hope you like my cards!  Now it's time to head on over to FCCB to see what the rest of the Design Team members created and to enter the challenge yourself.  I can't wait to see what you create! :o)

Robot Valentine

I've had this robot card designed in my Gypsy for a while now, but I wasn't really inspired to actually make it.  There are some great challenges out there right now, though, that are perfect for this little card.  Jitterbuggin' is having a Non-Traditional Valentine Challenge, Cricut Cardz is having a Valentine for a Man Challenge, and More than Favors is having a Yellow, Blue, and White Challenge.  So, here's what I created to enter into all three of these fun challenges:

The robot came from...can you guess?   Yep, the Robotz cartridge!  :o)   The hearts came from Paisley, and the card base came from Wild Card.  The blue and white patterned paper is from Oriental Trading Co., and the yellow paper is from the DCWV Citrus Stack.  The sentiment is computer generated with a free font that I found on the Internet.  This is yet another card in the running for my husband's  V-day card.  I may have to do a whole week's worth!  :o)  Well, thanks so much for visiting, and remember...I LOVE your comments!  ;o)

Two More Challenges

Whew!  I've just been really productive today (well, in a crafty way).  First, I decided to join the Whimsical Wednesday Challenge over at Always Crafting.  This week's challenge is to create something with an elephant on it.  Here's what I came up with:

The little elephant came from the Paisley cartridge, and the card base and circles came from Wild Card.  I tied the bow at the top using the technique that Marianne posted on her blog, Paper or Fabric Crafter (thank goodness I found that post, because I've always been a terrible bow tier).  My bow isn't quite as pretty as hers, but I'm proud of it!  ;o)  The sentiment came from My Pink Stamper's Punnylicious stamp set (Get it?  Elephants...peaNUTS??? hehe).

Oh, I almost forgot to post my other card!  I also decided to join the For the Birds Challenge over at Getting Cricky.  So, here's the little card I created:

I decided to use this little toucan since I am sooooo tired of WINTER!!!  This little guy makes me think of tropical warmth...and I'd really love to escape to somewhere tropical right now!  I got everything from the Life is a Beach cartridge.  This isn't my favorite card, so I think I may see what else I can come up with for this challenge later this week (we're allowed to enter as many projects as we'd like).  Anyway...I hope you like my little cards!  :o)
